Norm Heikens of the Indianapolis Star anchors a seven-month investigation of Indiana’s economy and workforce that paints a bleak picture: “As computer chips replace steel beams as the building blocks of the nation’s economy, and brains replace brawn as the key to hefty paychecks, Indiana is falling behind.” Most of the data work was done by the Indiana Business Research Center, an academic outfit. Included is an online database of labor and income county profiles.
