SubEthaEdit 2.0

The Coding Monkeys have released a new version of their fine OS X programming and text editor, SubEthaEdit (good product, bad name). A big addition for me, one that gets me closer to being able to shut off my addiction to using UltraEdit on a PC, is regular expression support in find and replace. And not just any old regex support, but 8 different types of regexs, including Perl, grep, Emacs and both POSIX types. Like UltraEdit, it pulls out the lines matching your find statement and you can go to individual lines from there. One thing I’d like to see is UltraEdit’s ability to copy those found lines to a new document. That doesn’t appear to be an option with SubEthaEdit, although it has a host of new features that make it my first choice for text editing on the Mac.
Update: I got a nice email from the Coding Monkeys saying they would consider making the grab lines feature a part of SubEthaEdit. And I donated, too - if you find the software valuable, it’s a good thing to do.
