Buffalo Gun Traficking

June 23rd, 2005  |  Published in DIY, Paper Trail

Susan Schulman, Lou Michel and Dan Herbeck of the Buffalo News have a four-part series on gun trafficking in the Buffalo region, in which the paper found that a single arms dealer “carried out the biggest illegal gun trafficking scheme ever uncovered in Western New York … by taking advantage of loopholes in the nation’s gun laws and limitations on federal law enforcement. And he was helped by powerful gun rights lobbies that undermined the enforcers.” The dealer, James Nigel Bostic, used female friends to help purchase nearly 200 handguns at Ohio gun shows “that were resold in Buffalo at inflated prices to drug dealers and thieves.”
