James Prado Roberts and Paul D’Ambrosio of Gannett New Jersey Newspapers studied that state’s sexual offender notification law, finding that “New Jersey’s law now stands as one of the weakest in the nation in immediately warning residents when a sex offender moves into their neighborhood … it can take prosecutors and judges several months to tell you if a notorious rapist has moved next door — if they warn you at all.” The investigation includes maps showing where sexual offenders live.
