Deborah Howlett of the Newark Star-Ledger used legislative and county records to find that “42 of the 120 [state] lawmakers have two — or three — elected or tax-paid positions. The jobs run the gamut, from part-time lawyer for a tiny borough, to construction code inspector, to professor of trauma surgery. The extra pay starts at a paltry $3,512 a year and soars to six figures for eight of the lawmakers.”
