Data and Web-Oriented Journalism Jobs

April 7th, 2008  |  Published in Data, Journalism

There have been a number of job listings lately looking for folks with database and Web skills. Just highlighting a few:

  • The Tulsa World wants “web programmers” and an Online Database Coordinator.
  • The Rochester Democrat & Chronicle is seeking a Data Desk Manager to oversee its team of database folks.
  • AP is looking for a business news data specialist to “research, develop and maintain data for specialized business news areas, including real estate/home and personal finance/retirement.”
  • I previously mentioned the Research Director position at MAPLight.org.
  • Perhaps my favorite of the bunch is the Online NewsHour, which is hiring an Interactives Editor (no link – saw this one via email) tasked with “the development of content for interactive graphics and multimedia packages for all components of the Online NewsHour. The editor will work to tap published databases as well as multimedia storytelling to develop new features.”

So there are jobs for those with database and Web skills. Check ‘em out.
